How VnMedtour Works

Planning medical or dental treatment in another country can involve more than choosing a hospital or comparing treatment costs. International patients may need to prepare medical records, communicate with healthcare providers, understand preliminary treatment information, arrange appointments and coordinate their travel around the expected treatment schedule.

VnMedtour helps international patients navigate this process when seeking healthcare in Vietnam.

From your first inquiry to hospital coordination and practical support during your stay, our role is to help make communication and planning easier between you and healthcare providers in Vietnam.

VnMedtour does not diagnose medical conditions or make treatment decisions. Diagnosis, treatment recommendations and medical care are provided by the licensed doctors, dentists and healthcare facilities responsible for your treatment.

Here is how the process generally works.

Step 1: Tell Us What Treatment You Are Looking For

Your journey starts by contacting VnMedtour and telling us about the medical or dental care you are considering in Vietnam.

You can contact our team with basic information such as:

  • the treatment or medical specialty you are looking for;
  • your age and relevant medical history;
  • current symptoms or diagnosis, if available;
  • previous treatment or surgery;
  • current medications and relevant health conditions;
  • preferred city or hospital, if you have one; and
  • your expected travel dates.

You do not need to have every piece of information ready before contacting us.

Our team can help identify what additional information may be useful for the next step.

Send Your Medical Records if Available

Depending on the treatment, the healthcare provider may need supporting documents before giving preliminary feedback.

These may include medical reports, laboratory results, prescriptions, X-rays, CT or MRI scans, dental X-rays, photographs or previous treatment records.

For example, a patient considering dental implants may be asked to provide a panoramic dental X-ray or CBCT scan, while someone considering cosmetic surgery may be asked to provide photographs and information about previous procedures.

The information required varies according to the treatment and healthcare provider.

Step 2: We Coordinate with an Appropriate Healthcare Provider

After receiving sufficient information about your case, VnMedtour can communicate your inquiry to an appropriate hospital, clinic or healthcare provider in Vietnam.

We work with healthcare providers across different medical specialties and locations.

The provider selected for an inquiry may depend on factors such as:

  • the treatment required;
  • medical specialty;
  • complexity of the case;
  • preferred location;
  • provider availability; and
  • the patient’s individual circumstances.

If you already have a particular hospital or doctor in mind, you can also tell our team.

VnMedtour does not independently determine which medical treatment you need. Clinical assessment and treatment recommendations remain the responsibility of qualified healthcare professionals.

Step 3: Receive Preliminary Medical and Cost Information

Where possible, the hospital, clinic or treating professional may review the information you have provided before you travel.

Depending on the case, you may receive information about:

  • an appropriate medical department or specialist;
  • possible treatment options;
  • examinations or tests that may be required;
  • an indicative treatment plan;
  • estimated treatment costs;
  • expected hospital stay; and
  • recommended time to remain in Vietnam.

However, the amount of information that can be provided remotely varies significantly between cases.

Some treatments can be estimated reasonably well from existing medical records or imaging. Other conditions require an in-person examination, new diagnostic tests or specialist consultation before a treatment plan or reliable quotation can be provided.

Preliminary Information Is Not a Final Diagnosis

Any treatment information or quotation provided before examination should be considered preliminary unless the healthcare provider confirms otherwise.

Your final treatment plan and costs may change following consultation, physical examination, diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing or other clinical assessments in Vietnam.

VnMedtour will help communicate this information to you so that you can make a more informed decision before arranging your trip.

Step 4: Review Your Options and Decide Whether to Proceed

Receiving information from a healthcare provider does not mean you are required to proceed with treatment.

You should have an opportunity to review the proposed next steps, estimated costs and expected treatment timeline.

If something is unclear, VnMedtour can help communicate your questions to the provider.

Before travelling, useful questions may include:

What treatment has been proposed?
Understand whether the recommendation is preliminary or confirmed.

What is included in the estimated cost?
Ask whether the quotation includes consultations, hospital fees, surgeon or doctor fees, medical materials, implants, anesthesia, medication or hospital accommodation where applicable.

How long should I stay in Vietnam?
Treatment time and recommended stay can be different. Some patients may need to remain in Vietnam for follow-up appointments after their procedure.

Will I need more than one trip?
Certain treatments, particularly some dental implant and staged medical procedures, may require more than one visit.

What happens if the treatment plan changes after examination?
Your treating provider should explain any significant changes before treatment proceeds.

Step 5: Appointment and Travel Coordination

Once you decide to proceed, VnMedtour can help coordinate the practical arrangements related to your healthcare visit.

Depending on your case and requested support, this may include:

  • confirming hospital or clinic appointments;
  • coordinating consultation schedules;
  • communicating expected arrival dates to the provider;
  • helping organize appointments around the treatment schedule;
  • providing information relevant to your stay in Vietnam; and
  • assisting with communication before arrival.

Medical travel arrangements should ideally be based on the healthcare provider’s recommended treatment timeline rather than booking a very short trip first and trying to fit treatment into it afterwards.

For procedures that require recovery or follow-up, patients should also consider sufficient time in Vietnam before their return flight.

Step 6: Arrival in Vietnam and Your Medical Appointment

When you arrive in Vietnam, you attend the scheduled hospital or clinic appointment for the appropriate clinical assessment.

Depending on your condition and treatment, this may include consultation, examination, diagnostic imaging, laboratory tests or other investigations.

This stage is important because information provided remotely may not fully represent your current medical condition.

The treating doctor or dentist can then confirm or revise the proposed treatment plan.

Before proceeding, you should understand the treatment being recommended, expected benefits and risks, alternatives, costs and relevant recovery requirements.

The decision to proceed with treatment is made between you and your treating healthcare professional.

Step 7: Treatment and Support During Your Stay

If you decide to proceed after clinical assessment, treatment is provided by the hospital, clinic and licensed healthcare professionals responsible for your care.

During this period, VnMedtour can continue to assist with coordination and communication where needed.

For international patients, this can be particularly useful when additional appointments need to be arranged or information needs to be clarified with the healthcare provider.

Our role remains separate from clinical care.

Doctors, dentists, nurses and other healthcare professionals are responsible for medical treatment, medication, clinical monitoring and discharge decisions.

Step 8: Discharge, Follow-Up and Returning Home

Before leaving the hospital or clinic, make sure you understand your discharge and follow-up instructions.

Depending on your treatment, you may need:

  • prescribed medications;
  • wound or dental care instructions;
  • follow-up appointments;
  • medical or dental reports;
  • imaging or laboratory results;
  • information about implants or medical devices used;
  • guidance on physical activity or diet; and
  • advice about when it is appropriate to travel.

For some procedures, your provider may recommend remaining in Vietnam for a period after treatment before flying home.

VnMedtour can help coordinate follow-up appointments in Vietnam and facilitate communication with the healthcare provider when appropriate.

After returning home, patients should follow the instructions of their treating provider and seek appropriate local medical care if further examination or treatment is required.

What VnMedtour Can Help With

VnMedtour’s primary role is international patient coordination.

Depending on your individual case, our team can assist with communication with hospitals and clinics, collection and forwarding of medical information, preliminary treatment inquiries, cost estimate requests, appointment coordination and practical treatment planning.

We currently support inquiries across a range of healthcare areas, including:

  • dental treatment;
  • cosmetic and plastic surgery;
  • ophthalmology;
  • orthopaedics;
  • fertility treatment;
  • oncology;
  • general and specialist surgery;
  • diagnostic services; and
  • health check-ups.

The exact coordination process varies according to the treatment and healthcare provider.

What VnMedtour Does Not Do

Clear responsibilities are particularly important when arranging healthcare internationally.

VnMedtour is a medical tourism coordination service, not a hospital or medical provider.

We do not independently diagnose medical conditions, prescribe medication, perform medical procedures or replace consultation with a qualified healthcare professional.

We also cannot guarantee that a particular treatment will be suitable, that a preliminary quotation will remain unchanged after examination, or that a particular medical outcome will be achieved.

Medical decisions remain the responsibility of the patient and the licensed healthcare professionals providing care.

How Long Does the Process Take?

There is no single timeline for every patient.

A straightforward dental or cosmetic inquiry with complete records may be reviewed relatively quickly, while a complex medical case may require additional reports, imaging or consultation with several departments.

The time required can also depend on doctor availability and whether the healthcare provider needs additional information.

Providing clear medical records and explaining your expected travel dates when you first contact VnMedtour can help make the coordination process more efficient.

What Should I Send VnMedtour?

If you are ready to request preliminary information, send whatever relevant information you currently have.

A useful starting point is:

1. Your age and gender
2. The treatment or medical problem you are asking about
3. Relevant medical history and previous procedures
4. Current medications and known allergies
5. Medical reports, test results or imaging, if available
6. Your preferred location in Vietnam, if any
7. Your approximate travel dates

Do not worry if some information is unavailable. The VnMedtour team can tell you whether the healthcare provider requires anything further.
