Doctor of Medicine, Level II Specialist Vu Tu Nam is currently the Head of the Department of Orthopedics & Sports Medicine and Head of the Orthopedics Unit at Vinmec Smart City International Hospital, while also serving as the Deputy Head of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at VinUniversity.

He completed his Residency and Specialist Level II training in Orthopedic Surgery at Hanoi Medical University, and pursued advanced training at leading medical centers in Japan, the United States, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand. Before joining Vinmec, Dr. Nam worked at Hanoi Medical University Hospital and Saint Paul Hospital, where he gained extensive experience in managing complex orthopedic trauma cases.

With many years of experience, Dr. Nam has directly performed nearly 1,000 arthroscopic surgeries along with thousands of sports injury treatments. His key areas of expertise include:

  • Diagnosis and treatment of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries
  • Meniscal tears and cartilage lesions of the knee
  • Injuries of the ankle and lower leg
  • Reconstructive surgeries in complex orthopedic trauma

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Nam is actively involved in teaching and research. He has authored and co-authored numerous scientific publications in national and international journals, focusing on:

  • Arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder
  • Anatomical mapping techniques in ACL reconstruction
  • Imaging diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries
  • Advances in postoperative rehabilitation

He has also contributed to the development of textbooks and specialized monographs in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine, playing an important role in training the next generation of doctors.

At Vinmec, Dr. Nam personally conducts consultations, surgeries, and personalized treatment planning, integrating surgery, rehabilitation, and nutrition to deliver comprehensive care.
